An old oenophile quote

An old oenophile quote:
"Life is a waste of time, and time is a waste of life. So, why not get wasted all  of the time, and have the time of your life!"

Apartment design failure

Just one of those things that you notice over the course of having to live in apartments.

Anyone who has lived in an apartment, at least in Florida, will have noticed this.

Most kitchens have some kind of over-head hood with a ventilation fan over their stove.  Now in a house, they usually install this over-head hood ventilation so that it actually serves a purpose, but in an apartment it is not usually the case.  In a house you find the ventilation actually draws the grease fumes/vapors up a vent that runs to the roof and expels them from the inside of the house to the outdoors.  That is the ideal design and actually is the purpose of the ventilation unit's existence.  In an apartment, though, it's as if the ventilation unit is only there for aesthetics, because all the units in the apartments merely draw up the grease fumes/vapors and then simply re-disperses them back in to the room, only just over your head.  I fail to see the point.

Do they think we are so feeble minded so as to think they are kidding us?  Are we so stupid that we don't realize that the grease is just being pumped right back out at us?

I'm only grousing about this because I just cannot stand a the smell and vile noxious air of a grease filled room because of the use of a deep fryer with no means to vent it.  Gag!!  And that is what is going one right now, so the windows and doors are open with the ceiling fan on to try to vent the place out in 40 degree weather.  Nice.

The addendumizer

Do you have someone you know that does this in conversation?

A person who, while in a conversation with others, contributes their part to the conversation making their point and then when someone else contributes to make their point that person almost always feels the need to attach an addendum to the other persons statement. An addendumizer.

I have someone that I know who does this to me all the time and it is so frustrating. Not just because it is as if they are someone who is trying to have the last word every time, but because, although they probably believe they are "laser-focusing" my own point, they are usually in fact giving my statement's actual point an inflection, or skewing the statements meaning onto a tangent which, in fact, I was not attempting to make. It's as if they have nullified your point. You have a particular take on something and you express it precisely as you have intended only to have this boob, who doesn't actually follow your point, steer it back to the point they just made as if you are in total agreement with their take on the subject. So, you can never seem to make your point because they won't let you make your point and just let it rest.

I think these are the little things in life that explain the proliferation of liquor stores.

Inherent limitations of an employer

I've been spending some time trying to do some house cleaning between interruptions. One of those interruption being a phone call. After stewing over the phone call during my house cleaning I've approached a point where I have a necessary pause during which I can take a break and decided I needed to write a little declaration.

Staffing agencies, employers and the like. LISTEN UP!

Just as the rest of the people and citizens in this country we call the United States of America, you reside and operate here by the grace of GOD. You are not special, and you are not privileged to special authority over others.

When a person is employed via a staffing agency or directly and the like there are contracts. Within these contract there is a tendency for the employing party to reach beyond there authority in attempting to declare restrictions on the party they are hiring. Such as the unmitigated audacity to tell the would be employee with whom they may or may not speak or what they may or may not say.

Again HEAR THIS employers!!! Let me make this clear again! You exist in this United States of America to operate only by the grace of GOD. Within this United States of America we have something called the Constitution and something call The Bill of Rights which is an extension of the Constitution. I don't mind breaking it to you but your little contracts do not supersede the Constitution or the Bill of Rights! You can write what you want, you can say what you want, but you cannot alienate individuals from their inalienable rights no matter how much you would like to, no matter how much you point to your contracts with unconstitutional declarations, no matter how much it makes you feel good, and no matter how hard you try. This is all by the simple fact that you exist and operate in the United States of America. Live with it!, Deal with it! OR GET THE HELL OUT OF OUR COUNTRY and go somewhere else where you can exist to your fascist hearts content!

Perhaps you have begun to notice, we don't play fascist here anymore!
