1. THURSDAY, APRIL 19, 2007 at 12:00 Noon: We will conduct a “Turning Blue” Ceremony. On this day, family and friends are invited to participate in a ceremony outside of Echo Company to recognize the outstanding achievements of the Soldiers as well as the efforts of their Drill Sergeants throughout the cycle. It will start at 12:00 Noon and last approximately 30 minutes. During the ceremony, family members will be afforded the opportunity to put the distinctive Infantry Blue Cord upon their Soldier’s uniform. At the conclusion of the ceremony, Soldiers who have passed the AIT APFT test, are not under or pending disciplinary action, and have completed all graduation requirements are authorized a Columbus/Fort Benning pass until 7:00 PM that night. NOTE: Have your driver’s license and proof of insurance ready to show the military police officer at the gate to Sand Hill.
2. FRIDAY, APRIL 20, 2007 at 9:00 AM: Echo Company will perform its graduation ceremony. The ceremony will start promptly at 9:00 AM and conclude about a hour later. At its conclusion, you will have 10 minutes to take pictures and meet with your loved one before he is marched back to the company area for out-processing and a safety briefing. After the safety briefing, all National Guard/Reserve Soldiers who are not conducting follow-on training at Fort Benning will be released. All Soldiers going immediately to Airborne School following graduation will be out-processed from Echo Company and sent to the Airborne School that morning for in-processing. Please understand that pass times for everyone who is staying at Fort Benning following graduation are subject to change due to the limitations placed upon the gaining unit’s training schedules. Do not make travel arrangements following graduation without personally checking with your Soldier concerning his follow-on schools. NOTE: Please plan for an extra hour of travel time in anticipation of a long line at the Sand Hill checkpoint. Have your driver’s license and proof of insurance ready to show the military police officer.
